  • Erwin O. Wittorff, 87, formerly of Inman, passed away Sept. 10, 2013 at Via Christi St. Francis, Wichita.

  • Erwin O. Wittorff, 87, formerly of Inman, passed away Sept. 10, 2013 at Via Christi St. Francis, Wichita. He was born April 3, 1926, in rural Inman, the son of Arthur and Elsie Blocker Wittorff.   
    He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.  He was a farmer, he loved his hereford cattle and he had worked part time for the Inman School District.  
    He was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, Inman, the Inman Lions Club, had served on the Pleasant View Home Board, the St. Peter’s United Church of Christ Board, and had helped with the annual St. Peter’s Ground Hog Feed where he was in charge of the sauerkraut.
    He enjoyed his children and grandchildren and was known as Popo.    
    On June 4, 1950, he married Geneva Rhodes at Inman.  She survives in Derby. Other survivors include his children, Kevin (Janie) Wittorff of Derby and Linda (John) Bode of Derby, three grandchildren, Julie Matzen, David Matzen, Kyle Wittorff, and 16 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy in infancy, and Arnold.  
    Graveside Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013 at North Inman Cemetery with military rites conducted by Ft. Riley Honor Guard. A Memorial Service will follow at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013 at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, Inman with Reverend Dennis L. Ureche officiating.
    The family will greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, 2013 at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, Inman.  Memorials may be sent to St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in care of Buhler Mortuary, 120 North Main, Buhler, KS 67522.
