Saturday is a momentous day for the men's soccer program at Central Christian College.
The Tigers will be celebrating 50 years of soccer at CCC with a home game against the Oklahoma Christian University Eagles. The Tigers will be taking on an Eagle team that made the jump from NAIA to NCAA division 2 last year.
The Eagles are currently 1-0 on the season, defeating Southern Nazarene University 5-2 on Sept. 5.
The Tigers are currently 1-2 on the season, and coming off their first win of the season on Tuesday against Bethel College.
The Tigers defeated the Threshers 1-0 on a 30 yard free kick from freshman Oscar Pizano. For Pizano, it was his second goal of the season.
Having the 50th anniversary celebration in conjunction with Saturday's game will certainly bring a lot of energy. There will be a lot of former Tigers in attendance and this year's team will definitely want to put on their best performance.
It certainly promises to be an electric atmosphere under the lights.
The festivities start with a tail gate party tonight at 6 p.m. The game kicks off at 7 p.m. with the 50th anniversary celebration taking place at halftime of the game.
In conjunction with the 50th anniversary celebration, Central Christian College will be honoring the first head coach of the Tiger Soccer program back in 1964, Keith Ivers, by naming the press box the "Keith Ivers Family Press Box.”
The press box naming ceremony will take place at 6:40 p.m. prior to the Tigers and Eagles taking the pitch.
The game can also be seen live via the internet at www.ccctigers.com.
