  • At 5:40 p.m. Saturday, sheriff’s deputies and McPherson police were dispatched to McPherson Hospital for an unruly inmate.
The inmate, Benjamin D. Dick, 19, of McPherson, had been transported via McPherson emergency personnel and a jailer after having been found lying in his cell earlier in the day.
After a jailer shift transfer, the inmate got up and attempted to physically overpower the jailer.
The jailer suffered a non-life threatening injury in the scuffle, and the inmate made it to the lobby where he again faced physical opposition by the staff before running out of the hospital.
The inmate was picked up Monday morning by McPherson police.
Dick now faces new charges for battery on a corrections officer and aggravated escape of custody.
