  • Moundridge split with Ell-Saline and Marion in Heart of America League volleyball action Tuesday night.
The Wildcats opened up the home triangular with a 25-18, 25-19 win over Ell-Saline.
“I didn’t feel Ell-Saline played their best,” Moundridge coach Kelsi Chisholm said. “Nevertheless, we played solid defense and served well.”
Against Marion, the Wildcats (11-7) went three sets, taking the first, but falling in the subsequent sets 23-25, 22-25.
“They caught us a few times out of position that were costly,” Chisholm said. “Overall, we play well for 18-20 points, but there seems to be that point in the game where we can’t seem to get a sideout and lose momentum for too long, so that, by the time we get back in it, it’s too late.
“That is something to be corrected and it is going to take all the girls’ efforts to do so. I believe they are up to the challenge.”
Two triangulars were played Tuesday at MHS, as Sedgwick defeated Marion (30-28, 25-16) and Ell-Saline (25-20, 16-25, 32-30) in the other.
The Moundridge JV had a bit more success, defeating Marion (25-12, 21-16) and Ell-Saline (25-12, 25-12).
In the C game, Moundridge defeated Marion in straight sets 25-23, 23-11.
