The McPherson High School JV football team survived a shoot-out with Rose Hill on Monday, winning 28-20 to move to 3-0 on the season.
The Pups had a turn of good luck to start the game, as Rose Hill botched a punt, which allowed McPherson to pick up a safety.
Cody Starkel led the first half scoring, as he ran in one touchdown on his own and threw one to Spenser Wine for a second. Starkel also picked up a two-point conversion.
 Quarterback duties in the second half went to Marcus McDaniel, who was just as successful. He also ran in for a touchdown and threw for another.
His passing touchdown went to Drake Janzen. Both two-point conversions failed.
McPherson is at home on Monday against Buhler.
