  • Bethany College has announced Alex Heideman as the new assistant baseball coach.
Heideman comes to Bethany from Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in political science and criminal justice.
He earned Academic All-District honors two years and was a 2013 CoSIDA Academic All-American.
“I am very pleased to add Alex Heideman to our staff at Bethany,” says Head Baseball Coach Andrew Bartman.  “Alex was a very decorated player at Nebraska Wesleyan both academically and athletically. He is the type of person that we want our players to be around every day.
“I look forward to working with Alex towards the common goal of a KCAC championship and growing together as coaches and as people.”
Heideman earned HAAC first team all-conference honors, GPAC first team all-conference honors, AD31 Independents Conference first team all-conference honors, and was named GPAC and AD31 Independents Conference Player of the Year.
He was named two-time NAIA All-Nebraska team, GPAC Gold Glove Catcher and NWU Colon Male Athlete of the Year.
Heideman previously served as the assistant baseball coach for Lincoln Pius X High School in Lincoln, Neb., for one year.
