McPherson College’s enrollment has been holding strong and steady at 40-year highs for the last four years, according to the official fall enrollment numbers compiled Sept. 20.
In total, 656 students are enrolled at McPherson College for fall 2013.
“Our faculty and staff have been working hard to bring new students to McPherson College, and the results have been incredible,” said McPherson College president Michael Schneider, an alumnus named to the position in 2009. “Our large incoming freshman class and new transfer students show that MC is growing and thriving. But beyond the numbers, I’m really excited about the high quality of students who now call McPherson home.”
A boost to total enrollment has come from the master of education degree, recently accredited by the Higher Learning Commission in spring 2013. After HLC approval, the number of students in the graduate-level classes increased by 58 percent.
A large incoming class has also helped keep enrollment consistently high—this year brought 261 incoming freshmen and transfer students.
In particular, the automotive restoration program had its best year ever for incoming students as they opened more spots in the department for interested students.
The program’s 60 incoming freshman and transfer students this year more than doubles last year’s incoming enrollment.
