Hugh N. Billhimer, 82, of McPherson, passed away Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was a retired electronics instructor and had taught at Charlottesville Albemarle Technical Education Center (CATEC) in Virginia.
He was born Aug. 17, 1931, in Keezletown, Va., the son of William H. and Willie J. (Walton) Billhimer. On Nov. 29, 1957, he married Kay Brunell in Allentown, N.Y.
Hugh was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of Monitor Church of the Brethren.
Survivors include: his wife, Kay of the home; three daughters, Leslie Frye (Jonathan) of McPherson, Helen Billhimer (Hugh Peterson) of Carson City, N.V., and Amy Haddock (Greg) of Maryville, Mo.; three brothers, George Billhimer (Wilda) of Elkton, Va., Roy Billhimer (Charlotte) of Broadway, Va. and Ray Billhimer (Phyllis) of Broadway, Va.; a sister, Sis Hartless of Lexington, Va.; four grandchildren, Jamie Frye Makatche (John), Cindy Haddock, Tyler Haddock, and Jake Frye; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and nine brothers and sisters.
The memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, at Monitor Church of the Brethren, McPherson. Inurnment will be in the Monitor Church Cemetery. A reception and gathering of family and friends will take place beginning at 6 p.m. Friday at the home of Leslie and Jonathan Frye (505 N. Charles).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Monitor Church of the Brethren, the American Lung Association, or Heifer International in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 N. Chestnut, McPherson, KS 67460.
