  • 1. Be a Mountain Man
    The Mountain Man Rendezvous will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Maxwell Wildlife Reserve. Experience living history with historical re-enactors, primitive camps, flint knappers and craftsmen. Demonstrations of prairie life, bird walks, music, food, and elk and bison tours will be offered.     2. Fight cancer
    The Women and Children Combating Cancer Pink Line Walk will be Thursday. It will begin at 7 p.m. at Genesis Health Club parking lot. Community members are encouraged to participate and show support by carrying pink ribbon down McPherson Main Street.
    The walk will conclude at the Main Street Plaza where refreshments will be served. Wear pink and support the cause.
    3. Celebrate Swedish pioneers
    Lindsborg’s Svensk Hyllningsfest will be Friday and Saturday. Residents of Lindsborg don traditional Swedish folk costumes to celebrate the Swedish pioneers who settled the Smoky Valley. The festival features art and crafts, ethnic foods, a grand parade, Scandinavian music, and other special entertainment while Swedish folk dancers and musicians add to the flavor of the festival.     4. Burn down Main
    Come taste chili, hearty soups and delicious desserts at Burnin’ Down Main Saturday. Round up your friends and your favorite recipes and enter the cook-off competition. There is plenty of space for both culinary talents and creativity, as entries are judged on team spirit as well as taste. There will be great cash prizes, and fun and entertainment for everyone.     5. Ride a bike for peace
    Help log 3,000 miles to add to Paul Zeigler’s vision of riding for Peace Saturday.
    Check-in is at 9 a.m. Rides begin at 9:30 a.m. Rides will start on the front steps of Melhorn Science Hall. There will be five, 10 and 20 mile distances. Those who are unable to attend but wish to participate can log their hours and report them later.
    Register online at www.mcpherson.edu/pedalsforpaul. There is no entry fee, but preregistration is required.
    Donations will be accepted for The Paul Ziegler Memorial Scholarship Fund.
