  • It was a mixed result for the Tiger volleyball team this past weekend, as the Tigers played three matches on the road in Iowa and Nebraska and came home 1-2.
The Tigers travelled to Iowa on Friday evening for a pair of matches against Waldorf College, a member of the MCAC, and AIB College of Business.
The Tigers lost the opening match with Waldorf 10-25, 9-25, 16-25, but rallied in the nightcap to defeat AIB in five thrilling sets (25-20, 19-25, 28-26, 18-25, 16-14).
On Saturday, CCC pointed the vans south and stopped in Omaha on the way home to play a conference match with College of St. Mary. The Flames defeated the Tigers 25-16, 25-17, 25-14 leaving the Tigers still searching for that elusive first MCAC win of the season.
Statistically, Mayuko Shono dominated the offensive stat line for the Tigers. In the three matches Shono recorded 26 kills on 90 swings with 21 errors.
Freshman Israel Espinosa was the next closest with 13 kills on the weekend. Defensively, three Tigers stood out in the digs column.
Junior Libero Samantha Dahl led the way with 40 defensive digs on the weekend. Hannah Crandall and Kaitlyn Metz were next each recording 23 digs.
The Tigers are now 4-12 on the season and 0-6 in the MCAC.
They are back home next week for three MCAC matches. They will play York on Tuesday night at 7:00 pm, Waldorf on Friday night at 7:00 pm, and CSM on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 pm.
