  • The McPherson High School girls’ tennis team handily won the Smoky Valley High School Tennis Invitational Monday, a tournament that had been postponed Sept. 12 due to rain.

  • The McPherson High School girls’ tennis team handily won the Smoky Valley High School Tennis Invitational Monday, a tournament that had been postponed Sept. 12 due to rain.
    The Pups had 98 team points, a full 24 more points than second place Chapman. Smoky Valley came in seventh with 44 points.
    Individually, Rachel Ivers finished third in the singles bracket with a 3-1 record, while Katlyn Reifschneider was fifth, also with a 3-1 record.
    In doubles play, the third place game was all McPherson, as the doubles team of Brooke Bate and Taylor Swartzendruber took third over Katherine Geist and Riley Burghart.
    Bate and Swartzendruber finished at 3-1, while Geist and Burghart went 2-2.
