McPherson College, along with a handful of surrounding KCAC schools and junior colleges participated in the Tabor College Invitational on Saturday.
The Mac women came in first on the heels of a champion run by Aspen Frey while the men had a solid second place showing.
"I am very pleased with how both teams stepped up in less than ideal weather conditions," Bulldog coach Cameron Magnall said. "Aspen, especially, ran a very tactical race against some of the top individuals in the conference."
Coming down towards the finish, Frey held off Tabor's Brielle Lund for the championship t-shirt as the two finished less than four seconds apart, with Frey coming in with a time of 19:38.88.
Newcomer Grace Viuhkola was the next MC runner to cross the line and did so at 20:36.37. Savana Cross was right on her tail, coming in as the next runner at 20:46.60.
Miranda Clark continued to PR as she finished at 21:42.49. The final scoring Bulldog was Damaje Markham who ended her race at 21:47.32.
The McPherson men's second place finish was well deserved as Kwan "Angus" Leung led the pack of 'Dogs with his 27:47.36 split, finishing sixth.
Michael Janzer and Brandon Sherier finished side by side at 28:14 and 28:16, respectively. Chris Newell came in next at 28:37.60 and was followed by Dixon Cooney (28:40.6) and Kurt Katzdorn (23:48.80).
Two weeks rest will end with a race at one of the toughest cross country courses in the country as the Bulldogs travel to Lawrence, Kansas to take on Rim Rock Farm Oct. 12.
This will be a preview meet for the NAIA National Championships that are to be held there in November.
