Marie M. Bruna, 81, of Hanover, died Sept. 28, 2013, at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka.
Visitation was from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday at the Hanover Mortuary.
A rosary service was 7 p.m. Monday, at St. John's Catholic Church in Hanover.
Mass of Christian Burial was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1 at St. John's Catholic Church. Father David Metz officiated.
Janet Fritschi played the organ while the church choir sang “Here I Am Lord,” “Angels Among Us,” “Ave Maria” and “On Eagle’s Wings.”
The pallbearers were Lee Bruna, Chad Nieman, Jared Hynek, Cody Krueger, Nick Krueger, Brock Nieman, Rodney Nieman, Corby Truhlicka and Eric Truhlicka.
Marie was born April 23, 1932, on a farm near Marysville to Frank and Margaret (Cohorst) Sandman.
On Nov. 12, 1952, she married Lester Bruna at Marysville. She was a farm wife and homemaker.
She was a member of Altar Society, Daughters of Isabella, Unique Engineers and Red Hats.
Marie was a quilter and enjoyed sewing, cooking, word search, gardening and flowers. She really loved being around people.
Survivors include her husband, Lester, Hanover; children, Peggy (Jim) Krueger, Abilene, Frank (Denise) Bruna, Bremen, Susan (Terry) Truhlicka, Ellensburg, Wash., Kathy (Mike) Nieman, McPherson, Sandra (Dan) Hynek, Olathe, 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill Sandmann, Marysville, and Gus Sandman, Blue Rapids; sisters, Caroline (Bruna) Gerstner, Marysville, Rosemary (Harold) Travelute, Hanover, Kathleen Dobrovolny, Blue Rapids, and JoAnn Nider, Washington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant children, Mary Ann and Rodney.
A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of the Hanover Mortuary.
