The Central Christian College soccer teams came up short against Southwestern College Tuesday night, with the Tiger women falling 3-0 and the men tying the Moundbuilders 0-0.
The Lady Tigers fought hard against the No. 5 team in the KCAC, holding the Moundbuilders scoreless for most of the first half. SWC’s lone first half goal came at the 10:17 mark of the game off of the foot of Kaci Hutchinson.
Southwestern wouldn’t score again until the 63rd minute, when Katie Frank managed to find the back of the Central net for a goal. Frank then set up Leslie Pasarell for the third SWC goal five minutes later.
Central Christian took 10 total shots, with six coming on goal in the loss. Krystina Powell and Siarra Quintana led the Tigers with two shots, each. Southwestern took 23 total shots, with only six coming on CCC goalkeeper Twila Smedley, who made three saves.
Neither Southwestern nor Central Christian could find the back of the net in the men’s game, despite a few opportunities on both sides. Central took 12 total shots, with two coming on goal, while SWC had 21 total shots, six on goal.
Josh Black and Ray Anderson had the shots on goal for the Tigers, while goalie Alex Akrawi had the shutout, making all six saves for CCC.
The Tiger men see their record move to 1-7-1, while the women fall to 2-9.
Both teams have a full week to rest, as their next matches aren’t until Oct. 9 at York College.
The next home game for either team is Oct. 12, as they host Waldorf College for Central Christian College’s homecoming.
