  • McPherson College’s Nick Torres has been named among KCAC Offensive Men's Soccer Players of the Week.
The student-athletes were selected for their performances during Sept. 23-29 by a vote of conference Sports Information Directors.
Torres a 5-8 forward, totaled five points in McPherson's only game of the week, scoring two goals and recording an assist in a 5-0 win over Central Christian.
With eight points on the season, the McPherson High School graduate is second on the Bulldogs and tied for 10th in the conference in points per game, averaging a point a game.
His three goals on the season put him tied for eighth best in the conference, and his 23 shots, 2.88 per game, put him in seventh overall in the KCAC.
The win Wednesday wrapped up the Bulldog’s non-conference schedule and moved them to 3-5 on the season.
"Our boys faced an extremely tough non-conference schedule this season,” Mac head coach Doug Quint said, “as we faced Nos. 14, 15, 18 and 25 nationally. We learned a lot about ourselves throughout these matches. We got better every day playing against high level of competition but didn't get results we hoped for. Against Central we were able to sustain that level of play and see the results.”
Mac men will host Bethel College for the first KCAC match of the season on McPherson's homecoming Saturday.
Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on the grass fields at McPherson College.
