McPherson Police were involved in a pursuit Thursday afternoon after a suspicious vehicle that refused to stop sped out of the city on U.S. Highway 56.
The vehicle, which officers had attempted to pull over in McPherson, sped east on U.S. Highway 56 and turned south on 18th Avenue.
At Moundridge, the vehicle merged onto Interstate 135 and continued into Harvey County where spike sticks were laid out for it. The spike sticks resulted in a flat tire, but the vehicle continued, driving in the northbound lanes of Interstate 135 against oncoming traffic.
The vehicle nearly had a head on collision with a semi truck, after which it eventually pulled over. The vehicle came to a stop in Harvey County, two tenths of a mile east of West Street and North 60th Street on the south side of the road.
The driver and a passenger bailed out and attempted to flee on foot, and were apprehended in Harvey County shortly afterward.
