  • Christopher Gifford, a member of McPherson High School’s class of 2001, was recently named chief scientist of the bio-threat awareness systems group at the John Hopkins University’s applied physics laboratory.

  • Christopher Gifford, a member of McPherson High School’s class of 2001, was recently named chief scientist of the bio-threat awareness systems group at the John Hopkins University’s applied physics laboratory.
    Gifford leads machine learning, data mining and image exploitation research and development efforts for various government sponsors. He received his doctorate in computer science from the University of Kansas in 2009.
    He currently lives in Laurel, Md. with his wife, Jaclyn (Tillman) Gifford, also a member of McPherson High School’s class of 2001, and their 3-year-old son, Logan.
    Gifford is the son of Michael and Dale Gifford of McPherson.
