A quartet representing Midway Motors claimed the championship of the McPherson College Champions Club Golf Tournament Friday at Turkey Creek Golf Course.
The tournament was held as part of Mac College’s homecoming weekend festivities.
The team of Kelly Hoover, Dave Sensemen, Tom Matthews and Ron Rush claimed first in the championship flight after shooting at 12-under-par 58. They finished one stroke up on the foursome of Jack Rader, Tim Karstetter, John Holthus and Gordon Reimer.
A scorecard playoff was needed to determine the winners of both the first and second flights. Winning top honors in the first flight was the team of Rick Tuxhorn, Craig Bailey, Gary Brinkle and Blake Wells. Coming in second was Bob Wilson, Phil Metheny, Milt Fowler and Don Korber. Both teams shot a 63.
In the second flight, the foursome of Josh Dunback, Cord Cunningham, Brandt Busse and Brady Sherman finished first. The runners-up were Joe Harkins, Bill Gately, Lane Bomberger ad Marcel Tajchman. Both teams shot 66s.
Special prizes were awarded for both men and women. Taking longest putt and closest to the pin honors was Tyler Peachy on holes No. 9 and 2, respectively. Sherman claimed the longest drive prize off of the 18th hole. Rader was the closest to the pin (second shot) on hole No. 5.
Stephanie Stieben claimed both women’s prizes. She had the longest drive off off of the No. 8 tee, while she hit closest to the pin on hole No. 11.
