The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference hosted Basketball Media Day on Tuesday.

The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference hosted Basketball Media Day on Tuesday.
The event was held at Courtyard Wichita at Old Town.
The Swedes women's basketball team was picked eighth in both the media poll and coaches poll.
The McPherson College women, meanwhile, were picked 10th in both polls.
The Bethany women have focused on their strengths from last season, which was defense as the Swedes were among the top three in the KCAC in defensive field goal percentage.
New Swede head coach Brett Morehouse has implemented new conditioning, new weights, and new expectations that highlight following the five core values of Bethany College.
The Swedes also have adjusted their offensive plan.
"We need to create better scoring opportunities," said Morehouse. "We averaged 48 points per game last season. That's not going to get it done. We are hoping we can create better opportunities by creating more turnovers and playing a little bit more up-tempo style.
“Playing up-tempo in my mind requires much more discipline. We have focused on floor spacing, running lanes consistently, and then preaching attack, attack, attack."
MC is coming off a second-straight 14-15 season and has since hired a new coach, Gordon Reimer.
The Lady 'Dogs return one starter in Cheyenne Eisenhour and just six total athletes. Chandler Short, Bre Gillespie, Bailey Brown  and Cami Engelbert are the players returning with varsity minutes.
The newcomers are highlighted by Aubrey Barton (Hoover) who played volleyball for McPherson last season as a freshman.
It'll be a young squad this year as there are just four upperclassmen on the 18 athlete roster.
McPherson will have to make up some scoring as six of their top seven point getters from 2012-13 are no longer on the team. Eisenhour and Brown each bring back seven points per game from a year ago.
The point guard Eisenhour is also the team's top returning rebounder with her 3.1 average.
Leading the 2013-14 preseason polls was Southwestern College, last season's post season tournament champions. They received 20 out of the total 24 first place votes between the two polls.
The other four schools rounding out both polls were, in no particular order, Tabor College, Sterling College, Kansas Wesleyan University and Friends University.
Game one for McPherson is just three short weeks away as the Bulldogs travel to Lawrence to play Haskell Indian Nations on Oct. 29th. Tipoff for the women is 6 p.m.
The Swedes women open their season on October 29 as they host Graceland University at 6:30 p.m.
