  • For the third time in four days, the McPherson High School boys’ soccer team took the field, with the same results as the previous two outings, as MHS shut down Valley Center 4-0.
“Whenever you play three games in four days,” Bullpup coach Chris Adrian said, “fatigue becomes an issue. The first half, we really struggled to play our game. We looked physically and mentally out of it at times. That being said, to travel away from home and still come away with a comfortable 4-0 win shows what this team can do.”
Adrian actually dreaded this week coming into the  season due to the short turn around between games. However, once Dylan Blosser finally found the back of the net after the first seven minutes of play off an assist by Ryan Horton, the Pups began to find their groove. Freshman Andric McGill pushed the score out to 2-0 just before halftime, with Horton again providing the assist.
Adam Bowers scored about eight minutes into the second half off a corner kick from Dylan Blosser, who added his own, second goal not five minutes later to make the score 4-0.
McPherson (13-1) finished the week as the AVCTL Div. III champions and only giving up one goal while scoring 20
“It’s crazy to think that, at the beginning of the season, the question about this team was could they score goals after loosing last year's seniors,” Adrian said. “I think it's safe to say the answer is yes and we are actually really close to where we were last year in terms of goals scored.”
The Pups took 14 shots on goal, while senior goalie Dylan Stos made two saves.
In the JV game, McPherson also won 4-0, with goals from Sam Minnick, Jose Arriola, Jackson Lloyd and Kento Aizawa.
The Pups are home twice next week. They host Circle Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
