Somewhere in one of the fissures of my brain there exists a collection of synonyms for seldom used words that I use in describing similar meanings. Among these words is found “delicious.” Delicious is frequently used to describe food of exceptional flavor.
Not too long ago I saw it used to describe the sound of woodwind instruments, which, when played together, created close harmony and beauty, so it was described as delicious. Occasionally a group of colors occur in such a way that their blending might be described as delicious.
It is a rare occasion when we experience a sound, see a combination of colors or hear a description of an entity, so beautiful, it can only be described as delicious.
In my variety of exceptional experiences, I have become so seriously conscious of these delicate entities. Probably the most frequent of these experiences associated are with wonderful food. Since my diabetic limitations forbid me to sample many of the delicacies most people may enjoy. So with these limitations to compensate for their pleasures, I find myself indulging in delicious, that have no dietary connection.
One of my favorite indulgences is listening to and participating in the performance of choral music. The beauty of close vocal harmony, especially that of male organizations, gives me enjoyment that may be described as delicious. Woodwind instrumental groups, with very close harmony rank high in my musical appreciation of the definition of delicious.
An artistic rendering of natural beauty with different shades of blue, gold and green, offer me delicate delicious feelings. A beautiful bird with muted colors in its feathers, inspires delicious feelings. A well designed church with classic architecture evokes similar feelings. If I am in the mountains, where the Great Creator has put together majestic peaks, forests and multiple combinations of autumn colors or new spring flowers and trees, that is delicious to me. The combination of natural coloration, fragrances of pine tree forests and the soft mountain breezes, all put together in one great symphony of colors and fragrances provides an expression of delicious not found anywhere else.
Lest you think I am a bit daft in my choices of delicious, if you offer me a fresh, ripe delicious apple, I will come back to describing it as “delicious.”
