  • Tombstone Talks, an annual event conducted in the cemetery with stops at various graves, will be at 6 p.m. Saturday at the McPherson Cemetery. It is usually a roaming lecture about the people who are interred there.
This year’s talk is slightly different, as it focuses upon the grave markers of those who are interred in the cemetery, and what those markers have to say about the people and culture of their time.
Tombstone Talks, a lantern-light tour of the McPherson Cemetery, will put you in the mood for Halloween without the fright factor. Cookies and cider will energize you for the walk back in time, as you listen to the stories of unusual tombstones and unique situations involving the people who died.
Cost is $5 for nonmembers; free to members of the McPherson Museum & Arts Foundation, sponsor of the event. Annual Family Membership is $35. Call 620-241-8464 to reserve tickets or pay upon arrival.
Dress for the weather; wear walking shoes and be advised the cemetery will not be well-lit. Park at the Mausoleum, at the east end of the cemetery. The tour should take less than an hour.
Information was researched by the McPherson Museum. Income from the event helps fund the operations of the McPherson Museum & Arts Foundation.
