The Moundridge volleyball team saw their season come to a close Friday in the Class 2A State Volleyball tournament, as they went 1-2 in pool play.
The Wildcats opened up pool play Friday at Emporia State University’s White Auditorium with an 0-2 loss to Smith Center.
Moundridge put up a fight in both sets, but fell 23-25, 23-25.
Next up was the team that wound up winning the pool in Bucklin/Ashland. Again, the Wildcats were fierce, refusing to quit, but lost 0-2 (26-28, 22-25).
Moundridge wound out their day with a straight set win over St. Marys Colgan 25-21, 25-8.
The Wildcats end their season with a record of 26-16
Buckland won the pool, having only lost one game the entire evening, that in a three-set thriller against runner-up Smith Center.
Colgan went 0-3 on the day.
Hillsboro dominated the top half of the bracket, as they also went 3-0 on the day. Like Buckland, the Trojans only dropped one game, that against Mission Valley.
Jefferson County North was the second-place team, while Meade went 0-3 on the day.
