Events we feel you should watch for this week in the McPherson area.
1. Catch a snowball
The Snowball Drop will be 6 p.m. Thursday in Downtown McPherson. Santa will drop "snowballs" from a man-lift to kick off the holiday season. Ping-Pong balls will be numbered and will correspond to various prizes, including coupons, gift certificates and services. There will be a separate drop just for kids with candy and trinkets.

2. Get to know the town
McPherson Newcomers & Friends will be at 5:15 p.m. Thursday at the back meeting room at The Well. This is open to anyone that would like to know more about the community. Kasi Morales (GoMcPherson) and Jennifer Burch (McPherson Chamber of Commerce) will be present to visit with you and help you get more acquainted with McPherson.

3. Learn science
Chili Chats will be at noon Saturday in the Gathering Hall of the McPherson Museum, 1111 E. Kansas Ave.
Mike Mitchell, professor of chemistry at Bethany College (retired), leads discussion on Science Fiction vs. Science Fact. Chili, crackers, dessert and coffee available on a first-come, first-served basis.

4. Check your child's health
A free preschool screening will be from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church, 1400 N Main St., McPherson.
This screening is for children from birth to age 5. Check your child's growth and development — vision, hearing, motor, cognitive and speech.

5. Experience art
