  • Construction projects in the Canton-Galva School District are progressing, according to a report presented at the school board's Oct. 14 meeting.
The board approved installing air conditioning in the middle school gymnasium in preparation for the building's repairs after it suffered fire damage.
The state of the middle school gym has caused the district to reorganize sports activities, including practices and games.
The district is also making preparations for its building reorganization for the 2014-2015 school year. Seventh- through 12th-grade teachers are organizing class schedules and deciding which classes to teach next school year when they all meet at the same school.
Combining grades seven through 12 in one building will allow teachers to teach more classes.
The district is also working with the city council to decide what to do about playground equipment at the current elementary school, which will no longer be used as an elementary school starting the 2014-2015 school year.
