The 2013 season came to a conclusion for Lady Bulldog soccer on Friday following their 2-0 loss to Southwestern College in the KCAC Postseason Tournament. McPherson completed the year with a 5-12-1 record and fifth place finish in the conference standings at 4-5. The Lady Moundbuilders got on the scoreboard quickly in their home tournament match, scoring on a corner kick header in the 2nd minute of the contest. SWC continued to hammer forward, taking nine more shots, four of which were saved, prior to McPherson getting one off. The Lady Bulldogs took three total strikes at goal in the opening 45, narrowly missing on a couple. The two squads went into the break with Southwestern leading 1-0. McPherson came out as the aggressors in the second period, taking nine of the first 12 shots, having five saved by the Lady Builders' keeper. With 26 minutes to play, SWC got their second goal of the game, going up 2-0. The Bulldogs continued to push and saw three more of their attempts saved by Southwestern including their last chance with three minutes remaining. The Moundbuilders held off Mac for the 2-0 win. The Lady 'Dogs took 15 shots and had six saved by SWC. Gabriella Navarro saw all three of her shots saved while freshman Cydney Lewis came in off the bench and attempted three as well. Senior Samantha Peterson, playing her final game in a McPherson jersey, tallied two shots as did Haley Anderson and Jessica Dominiguez. Caitlyn Blagrave got the start in goal for MC but did not end there as an injury on the second goal of Southwestern took her out of the game. She tallied two goals allowed and eight saves. Kayla Besmer finished out the contest between the pipes, playing a hair over 25 minutes. Rest, recovery and graduation await the Lady Bulldogs as their next contest won't be until spring season.
