  • 1. Exercise for freedom
    The FREE2WALK 5K will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Central Christian College plaza.
    This event is a benefit run/walk to raise funds and awareness for the Set Free Movement in the McPherson area. The Set Free Movement seeks to end slavery around the world and create new futures.

    2. See the trouble backstage
    McPherson Main Stage & Thespian Troupe #3796 will perform “Noises Off” at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at McPherson High School.
    This play shows what happens backstage during the final dress rehearsal of the traditional British farce “Nothing On.”
    Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for students and $2 children under 5 and adults over 65.
    3. Donate food
    The 33rd Annual Kiwanis Club/Lions Club and Boy Scouts Christmas Basket Food Drive will be Saturday. The drive will collect non-perishable food items from area citizens and businesses for those families in need. Monetary donations, employee food drives, volunteering to pick up food on this collection day, preparing food baskets for distribution and/or distributing food baskets on Dec. 14 are appreciated.     4. Learn about charity
    The Alernative Christmas Gift Market, sponsored by the McPherson Church of the Brethren, will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at The Cedars Conference Center.
    The purpose of the market is to encourage persons to learn more about charitable organizations that help persons in need and to give donations and gifts for Christmas. 
    5. Enjoy a melodrama
    The 25th Annual Marquette Melodrama will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Marquette Fine Arts Center, 110 N. Washington, with proceeds going to the Marquette Fine Arts Center.
    The title of the show is "Dogsbreath Devereaux." This will be a reunion of sorts with appearances from past cast members.
