  • Call it nerves, call it inexperience, call it whatever you'd like but at the end of the day, McPherson volleyball came out slow in each of their three sets against Friends on Tuesday.
The Lady Falcons ended the contest with a 3-0 triumph, ending the 2013 season for McPherson.
The opening game of the night started with a 7-2 lead for Friends; Mac fought back but was never able to tie things up, giving the 1-0 lead to the Falcons.
In set number two, MC got down 10-1 and looked to be out of it but the team pushed back, forcing a pair of timeouts by Friends.  In the end though, the Bulldogs fell just short 25-19.
Needing a win, McPherson saw themselves down 7-2 for the second time in the match.
They would pull within four but no closer as the Falcons won their way into the semifinals of the KCAC tournament.

The Lady 'Dogs were led in kills by Tori Phelan (Rangely, Colo.) with 11; she took 28 attempts and tallied four digs as well.  Cortlyne Huppe (Florence, Colo.) logged eight kills on 22 swings, putting her second.

In her final game as a McPherson athlete, Rachel Phillips (Maize, Kan.) recorded 24 assists, 10 digs and a kill.

Playing five rotations in the back row, libero Emily Warner (Wichita, Kan.) had 14 digs to lead the team.

Spring ball is next on the docket for the returning MC players which will begin in March
