  • Central Christian College freshman Dean Danner represented the Tiger Cross Country program at the NCCAA National Championships last weekend in Cedarville, Ohio.
The race was hosted by the Cedarville University Yellow Jackets and was run in chilly, blustery conditions. Temperatures at race time were 45 degrees and winds were 15-20 mph.
The men's 8K race consisted of 231 runners. Danner finished with a time of 29:40.28, good enough for 156th place.
Danner's time was just over 4 minutes slower than the winning time of 25:13.36, run by Trinity Christian's Andrew Reidsma.
"Dean had an excellent race,” Tiger head coach Brock Glenn said. “This was a great experience for him, especially to be able to qualify and participate in the national meet as a Freshman. Even though he might not have set a personal best time at the meet, he has a lot to look forward to and he will only continue to get better. Dean is a really hard worker and I am proud of what he has accomplished this season."
Danner's trip to Cedarville was the second time in as many years that the Tigers had someone qualify for National Championships.
Being only a freshman, Danner and Glenn hope to make several more trips to Ohio in the years to come.
