McPherson High School had four players named to the All-AVCTL Division III first team, with senior Garrett Larson double-dipping on offense and defense.
The 6-3, 264 pound Larson was tipped first team interior defensive lineman and offensive lineman for his work this past season for McPherson, who finished 6-5 on the year and 3-2 in the AVCTL.
Also tabbed first team was 6-2 junior linebacker Ty Hart, 5-9 senior defensive back Collin Harvey and junior quarterback Kyler Kinnamon.
Running back TJ Stites and offensive lineman Andy Zeitlow both were chosen to the all-league second team as seniors. Honorable mention went to senior defensive back Anthony Jarvis and senior offensive lineman Devon Ronsse.
The offensive MVP of the league was Mulvane running back Michael Mason, and the coach of the year went to Buhler’s Steve Warner, who led the Crusaders to the school’s first-ever state championship this past Saturday with a 31-14 win over Coffeyville in Salina.
Buhler’s Henry Hickert was named defensive MVP.
All total, the Pups had nine honors bestowed upon players. Buhler led the count with 24, followed by Winfield with 21.
