Community service. You may see people doing it around town, at school, or for the elderly. Are people doing enough? We have interviewed some students that we feel that are responsible around the school, and we asked them some questions such as…
If you had the time to do community service would you do it? Some MMS student with the names of Leah Parker, Danny Berry, and Molly Strickler.
Leah said “Yes, I’ve done some community service during the summer at the public library.”
Danny Berry said “I collect money” Molly Strickler said “Yes, I would help out the old folks and the homeless.”
Do you think any students help out the community on their own time? Leah Parker said “Yeah, I see people around town delivering the paper to the houses of the McPherson citizens.” Danny Berry said “Some but not all” Molly Strickler said “No, maybe some.”
How often do you do community service? Leah Parker said “ If I had enough time to put in the effort I would.” Danny Berry said “Every time I can.”
We also interviewed a MMS teacher Mr. Bibens, and we asked him...
How often do you do community service? Mr. Bibens said “I do community service at least once a year.”
What do you see students doing to help the community? Bibens said, “I see kids from MMS picking up trash around the school.”
What do you see local kids doing for our community? Bibens said, “I see a lot of kids picking up trash around McPherson and around the community.”
We found out that more kids do community service than we thought. There are also kids that can do more for the community, and for themselves. We found out that we should not underestimate the abilities of the students.
