  • McPherson school district updates student transportation policy

  • The McPherson Board of Education approved updating its policy regarding student transportation Monday.
    The new policy allows the superintendent or his designee to set regulations regarding how student transportation is handled, including bicycles. The previous policy only specified automobiles.
    The board also approved course changes for the high school.
    The board approved changing the descriptions of the Bullpups Scholars, AP Word History and Psychology Lab classes to more accurately reflect course content.
    It also approved establishing three new classes: Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra Preparation, and Introduction to Industrial Technology.
    These changes were made on the advice of the Curriculum Coordinating Council.
    The board also approved a bid of $6,418 from Johnson Electric for electrical work on the carpentry house. No other bids were received.
    The board approved a donation of $200 to Eisenhower Elementary School from Community Thanksgiving Dinner Inc. for decorating bags for the Community Christmas Dinner. This money is used to purchase supplies.
    It also approved various donations to McPherson Middle Schools ED/P3 Mentoring Program for its Thanksgiving Dinner. Donors included Perkins Restaurant, Montana Mikes, Krehbiels, Walmart and The Cake Lady as well as two individuals.

    - An update on the Bullpup Scholars Program and Class
    - An update on the status of the district’s C3 initiative
    - An update on district construction projects and building work as part of the 2013 bond project
