  • 1. Mingle with the young professionals
    Attend the YP MAC Holiday Mingle from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Home State Bank & Trust, 223 N. Main St. in McPherson.
    YP MAC is open to all professionals, ages 21 to 40ish, that live, work or play in McPherson County. RSVPs are appreciated but not required.

    2. Enjoy cookies with Santa
    Free cookies and photos with Santa will be from 5:30-7:00 p.m. Thursday at The Village Geek, 116 N. Main St. Stores will be open late, and there will be strolling Christmas Carols by Sounds of the Heartland Chorus from  7 to 8 p.m.
    Cookies with Santa also will be offered from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Daylight Donuts, 122 N. Main St. and from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Clayworks at Disability Supports, 107 N. Main St.
     
    3. Attend a free movie
    See “Arthur’s Christmas” for free at 3 p.m. Saturday at the McPherson Opera House, 219 S. Main St. The event is part of 2013 holiday promotion offered by the McPherson Chamber of Commerce and McPherson Main Street.
     
    4. See the lights
    Make a Holiday Memory Aboard the McPherson Trolley.
    Tours of the city’s Christmas lights depart at 6, 7 and 8 p.m. Thursday from the McPherson Opera House, 219 S. Main St.
    Advance tickets are available for all tours at the McPherson Convention & Visitors Bureau Office, 306 N. Main St. All tickets are $5/each. Call 1-800-324-8022 or 620-241-3340.
     
    5. Turn back time
    Participate in  an “Old-Fashioned Christmas: A Celebration of Christmas Past” from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the Old Mill Museum, 120 Mill St., Lindsborg.
    The museum will be filled with the sights and sounds of an old-fashioned prairie Christmas. Enjoy concerts, live music, one-act plays, crafts for children to make, Santa, refreshments and the Christmas story told by the shepherd in the stable. Admission is $2 for adults;  $1 for children.
