  • It was close, but the Moundridge Wildcats’ unbeaten streak came to an end Friday night in the final night of the Moundridge Preseason Basketball Classic. The Wildcats (3-1) trailed Hillsboro only three at the half, 29-26, but were outscored 17-13 in the third quarter, which proved to be their undoing as the fourth was a push and Moundridge fell 62-55. Hunter Enyart continued his outstanding play in the Classic with 26 points for Moundridge. Colton Frazer had 14, while Garrett Higgins added 10 for the Wildcats. Moundridge is off until Friday, where they will host Sedgwick. Lyons stuns Inman 37-34 MOUNDRIDGE — Inman went into the fourth quarter of Friday’s game with Lyons hanging onto a 29-26 lead for all they were worth. Unfortunately, the Teutons were held to five points in the final period and fell to the Lions 37-34. Inman led 21-15 at the half, but Lyons game back in the third and scored 11 on the Teutons in the fourth. Treyton DeVore and Josh Friesen both had 12 points to lead the Teutons, who fell to 1-3 on the year. Inman is on the road Tuesday against Solomon. Goessel rolls to 65-34 win over Elyria Christian GOESSEL — The Bluebirds scored 24 points in the first half Friday against Elyria Christian on their way to a 65-34 win in the Bluebird Classic. Matthew Gemmer led a depleted Eagles squad with 13 points. Elyria was missing two starters due to injury and illness. Elyria is at home on Tuesday against Centre. Little River bests Canton-Galva 48-39 GOESSEL — Little River defeated Canton-Galva 48-39 Friday in the final day of pool play in the Goessel Bluebird Classic. Individual stats were unavailable at press time. Vikings fall 69-41 CONCORDIA — Smoky Valley is still searching for its first win of the year after Friday’s 69-41 road loss to Concordia. The Vikings (0-3) were right in the game in the first quarter, as they trailed 16-15, but Concordia unloaded with a 22-6 second quarter and SVHS never recovered. Senior Alec Schneider led the Vikings with 11 points off 5-for-11 shooting. Cole Norberg was just shy of double digits with nine points. The Vikings are at home Tuesday against Lyons.
