The Inman High School Baseball/Softball programs received a $5,000 check from Dodge for a fundraiser held during Santa Fe Days last September.
The Dodge Drive Event is a fundraising program sponsored by Dodge where $20 for every test drive of a new Dodge vehicle is donated to the recipient organization.
Midway Motors Supercenter as the sponsoring dealership provided all of the new vehicles and fuel for the event. The check was presented to both the Baseball and Softball coaches from Inman at the home basketball games on Dec. 6.
This is the second year that Dodge, Midway Motors and the Inman High School have teamed up to hold the event. In a three-hour period, residents 18 and older were invited to come out and test drive a brand new Dodge vehicle supplied by Midway Motors. For every test drive, Dodge donated $20 to the recipient organization up to a maximum of $5,000.
Again this year thanks to the support of the community and hard work of the baseball and softball teams, over 250 test drives were performed, earning the teams the maximum amount.
The funds will be used by both teams to make repairs and improvements to the fields and dugouts and will allow them to buy some new equipment for the upcoming season.
Both of the Inman teams have enjoyed successful seasons the past few years and are looking forward to going further in their respective state tournaments this coming spring.
“The Inman Community has always done an outstanding job of supporting our students and student athletes. This is just another example of people coming together to raise some funds for two growing programs” said Craig Druecker, CFO of the Midway Motors group of dealerships and a 19-year resident of Inman who has two children attending Inman High School. “Midway Motors is proud to team up with Dodge and help one of our local schools.”
Jim Preston, head coach of the baseball team, said, “I would like to thank Midway Motors, Dodge, all of the ball players, parents and community members that came out to support our team.”
Bill Sisson, head coach of the softball team, said, “It is great to see the support for our programs and we appreciate it.”
