  • Obituary: Michael Duane ‘Cut ’em Carl’ Schropp

  • Michael D. “Cut ‘em Carl” Schropp, 61, of McPherson, passed away Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, suddenly, at McPherson Hospital, McPherson.
    Michael was born on Oct. 24, 1952, in Wichita,  a son of Glennis Lee (Laird) Schropp, and Donald Duane “Don” Schropp.
    Michael attended elementary schools in Peabody, Newton and McPherson, attended Park School, McPherson Junior High and graduated from McPherson High School in 1970.
    Through the years, Michael worked for Central States as a fire alarm salesman, and Ken Goering Motors and Midway Motors as a car salesman.
    Michael was a member of Ducks Unlimited and Pheasants Forever, both of McPherson. Michael enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, spending time with his favorite granddaughter, watching KU basketball, Chiefs football and tinkering with the stock market.  He also spent many enjoyable hours with his pets.
    Surviving family members include his children, Christopher Schropp and his wife Makayla, of McPherson, Casey Schropp, of McPherson, and Chad Schropp, of McPherson; his mother, Glennis Schropp, of McPherson; his brother Monte Schropp and his wife Tami, of McPherson; his granddaughter Gentry Dishman, of McPherson; his canine companion Mindy; his feline companion Miss Kitty; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
    Michael was preceded in death by his father Donald Duane “Don” Schropp and a sister Ginger Mead.
    Friends are invited to call from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, with family present from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Glidden-Ediger Chapel, McPherson.
    The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at the Glidden-Ediger Chapel, McPherson,  with Reverend Tripp Edwards officiating.
    The final resting place will be at the McPherson Cemetery, McPherson.
    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ducks Unlimited or Michael D. Schropp memorial fund, and they can be sent in care of the Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home; 222 W. Euclid St.; McPherson, KS 67460.
