Evelyn M. Fields, 95, of McPherson passed away at 6:30 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2014 while in the company of family members at the Cedars House.
 Evelyn was born on March 2, 1919, in Neodesha, a daughter of Zella (Merriwether) and Charles Joseph McAninch.
 Evelyn attended Neodesha grade schools and graduated in 1937 from Neodesha High School. She then attended University of Kansas, Lawrence.
 Evelyn was a member of First Baptist Church McPherson, where she also was a member of the Fidelas Class, and she served her church in many capacities though the years.
 Evelyn was a homemaker and household executive.
 Evelyn was a member of the D.A.R., National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC), past president of K.F.M.C., G. F. W. C. (General Federation of Women’s Clubs), 99er’s International ( International Organization of Women Pilots), Girl Scouts, Eastern Star (Scott City), Inspiration Point Fine Art’s Colony, past president of Seventh district G. F. W. C.,  president of ABWM Judson Region (American Baptist Women Ministries), host family for the experiment in International Living; past president and board officer of the Merriwether Society and was a past president and member of the McPherson Lions Club.
 Evelyn was united in marriage to Galen Wayne Fields, M.D., on Dec. 28, 1938, at Neodesha.  Galen died on July 4, 1997.
 Surviving family members include her daughters, Carolyn Marie Zimmerman and her husband, Rev. Richard, of McPherson, Patricia Ann Findley of Lee Summit, Mo., and Barbara Jean Brantner and her husband, Ted, of Austin, Texas; her eight grandchildren, Susan M. McCoy and husband Jon, Galen R. Zimmerman and wife Kim, Stephen E. Zimmerman, Veronica Fields, Valerie Lands and husband Mark, Adrian Hawk and husband Steve, Tim Brantner and wife Karla, Bonnie Doggett and husband John; her 16 great-grandchildren, Jennifer M. Dutton and husband Jacob, Michelle Dunson, Galen W. and Matthew A. Zimmerman, Sarah E. and Samantha K. Zimmerman, Brian, Nicholas, Christopher, Brandon and Faith Hawk, Brant and Chase Doggett, Isabelle and Tyler Brantner, and Amber Fields; her six great- great-grandchildren, Hayley, Taylor, Skylar, Katelyn, and Natalie Dutton, three of which are triplets, and Melissa Peters-Brim; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
 Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Dr. Galen W. Fields; brothers, Estal McAninch, Homer McAninch, Luther McAninch, Lloyd McAninch and Ted McAninch; a son, Wayne Eugene Fields; one nephew, Lloyd “Buddy” McAninch.
 Friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Glidden-Ediger Chapel, McPherson.
 The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 31, 2014 at the First Baptist Church, McPherson, with Dr. James McIntosh officiating.
 The final resting place will be at the McPherson Cemetery, McPherson.
