  • With their win Saturday at the second McPherson Invitational, seniors Peter and Ryan Horton have all but laid claim on the title of "Team to Beat in Class 4A."
The Hortons moved past their teammates, Dylan Stos and Luke Williams, in the seminals of double play Saturday at the McPherson High tennis complex, setting up a showdown with Salina Central’s Zach Hampton and Jeffery Michel in the finals.
The Hortons finished off the day with an 8-6 win.
Stos and Williams rebounded from their semifinal loss to take third place, allowing McPherson to win the team title by two points over Class 3-1A top team Wichita Collegiate with 48 points.
Salina Central was third with 42.
In singles play, Gallagher Martin went 2-2 to finish seventh. Kento Aizawa also went 2-2 and finished 10th.
The Pups are back on the road today, as they travel to Maize.
