  • Tuesday’s Moundridge Invitational really could be boiled down to “Moundridge vs. Berean Academy, with three other schools just kind of there.”
Both Wildcat teams were second to Berean in the Moundridge Invitational, with the girls winning nine total events to score 115 1/2 points. Unfortunately, Berean racked up 161 points total.
Gossel was the next closest with 48.5 points. Herington and Marion were fourth and fifth.
Anna Stucky and Peri Lange both brought home a pair of gold medals for the Wildcats. Lange’s came in the triple jump with a leap of 32 feet, 2 1/2 inches and in the 300 hurdles with a time of 50.20. Lange was a full second faster than the next fastest girl and leapt a foot farther than teammate Natalie Kaufman (31-1 1/2).
Stucky, meanwhile, took first in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.11 seconds, just beating out Berean’s Megan Hendrickson by two-tenths of a second. She also grabbed gold in the long jump with a distance of 15-3 1/2.
Other firsts for the Moundridge girls came from Rylie Dick in the high jump (4-10), Brooke Holloway in the shot put (29-1/2), Ashley Holler in the pole vault (7-0) and Whitney Fiedler in the discus (88-1/2).
Stucky, Holler, Lange and Cassidy Siemens combined for a gold medal in the 4x400, coming in a full two seconds faster than Berean Academy’s foursome with a tim of 4:16.11.
The Berean Acadamey boys ruled the mountain with 215 1/2 points, far out-pacing the rest of the field. Moundridge was second with 77 1/2, followed by Gossel (45), Marion (14) and Herington (12).
The Wildcat boys had double golds from Joel Holloway, who won the long jump (18-11 1/2) and the triple jump (40-9 1/2).
Deshawn Pfeiff grabbed Moundridge’s only other gold in the pole vault with a height of 12-6.
