  • Bullpup baseball seeded fourth in regional assignments

  • Seedings were released Wednesday for baseball and softball regionals in Classes 4-1A, and McPherson High School baseball drew a giant-sized challenge for their first round in Class 4A Division I.

  • Seedings were released Wednesday for baseball and softball regionals in Classes 4-1A, and McPherson High School baseball drew a giant-sized challenge for their first round in Class 4A Division I.
    The Bullpups (7-13) will have to face off with Andale (17-3) in game one of the Ulysses Regional Monday at 2 p.m. The Indians and the Bullpups faced off on March 31, with Andale coming away with the doubleheader sweep 7-1 and 4-2.
    The other side of the bracket will see Buhler as the No. 2 seed with a 10-8 record taking on host Ulysses (9-9) at 4:30 p.m. The winners of the two games will play each other for the right to advance to the state tournament at 7 p.m. Monday.
    Smoky Valley will be the No. 3 seed in the Class 4A Div. II Concordia Regional, which will also be played out on Monday. The Vikings (1-15), will take on No. 2 seed Baileyville B&B (11-7) at 2 p.m., while the top half of the bracket sees No. 1 Concordia (11-5) taking on No. 4 Chapman (1-19).
    The winners will play at 6 p.m.
    Moundridge, Little River and Inman will all travel to Galva for the Class 2-1A Regional hosted by Canton-Galva. The Redskins are the top seed with a 15-5 record and will face the winner of No. 4 Moundridge (7-13) and Chase County (6-12). The Wildcats the Bulldogs will play Monday at 3 p.m., followed by Inman and Canton-Galva at approximately 5 p.m.
    The Teutons (11-7) are the No. 3 seed, while the Eagles (6-14) are the No. 6 seed. The winner will meet No. 2 Hillsboro (13-5) in the semifinals, which will be played out on Tuesday starting at 2 p.m.
    The regional champion will be crowned Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m.
    In softball, Moundridge will play host to a 2-1A Regional that also involves the other three area schools.
    Hillsboro (18-2) and the Wildcats (13-7) are seeded one and two, respectively, and will have byes for the first round on Monday.
    Hillsboro will face the winner of Strling (10-10) and Little River (4-8), who play Monday at 4 p.m.
    Inman (12-8) and Canton-Galva (2-18) will play in the 3-6 game at 5:40 p.m. The winner faces Moundridge Tuesday at 4:45 p.m.
    The regional championship will be played at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
    Smoky Valley has drawn the No. 2 seed in the Class 4A Div. II Regional at Nemaha Central. The Vikings (10-10)  will play No. 3 Concordia (7-13) at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
    The top half of the bracket features No. 1 Chapman (12-6) and No. 4 Nemaha Valley (2-16) at 4:45 p.m. The championship and the right to go onto the state tournament will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
    The Class 4A Div. I State Baseball tournament will be held at Dean Evans Stadium in Salina. The 4A Div. II tournament will be at Pratt Community College. 2-1A will be held at Great Bend Sports Complex.
    Page 2 of 2 - Softball 4A Div. I will be at Salina’s Bill Burke Complex, while Div. II will at Pratt’s Green Sports Complex.
    Class 2-1A softball will also be at the Great Bend Sports Complex.
