Mildred May Edmonds, 87, of McPherson passed away at 5:59 p.m. Monday, June 2, peacefully, surrounded by her family at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson
Mildred was born in Jefferson City, Kansas, on Oct. 29, 1926, the daughter of Wava (Lindley) and Theodore William Philo.
 Mildred attended and graduated in 1944 from the McLouth High School, McLouth.
 Mildred was a member of First Baptist Church, McPherson, where she sang in the choir and served her church in many capacities through the years.
 Mildred was a homemaker, and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. In 1973, she began working for Chuck Butterfield at Butterfield Construction Company as the office manager.  
 Mildred enjoyed bowling and was the treasurer of the league, loved to sew and made the children’s and grandchildren’s clothing through the years, and she took great pride in her home and being a mom. She was strong in her faith and she passed this on to her children.
 Mildred M. Philo was united in marriage to Maurice L. Edmonds on July 2, 1947, at Topeka.  The young couple established their first home together in Topeka.
Through the years they lived in DeSoto, Wichita and San Francisco until 1973 when they moved to McPherson.  
 Surviving family members include her loving and devoted husband of over 66 years, Maurice “Maury” Edmonds, of McPherson; her children, Susan Proffitt and her husband Gary, of Wichita, Scott Edmonds and his wife  Sheryl, of Topeka, Sara Feeney, of Wichita, and Sandra Lolling and her husband Steve, of McPherson; her siblings, Bill Philo and his wife B.J., of Corsicana, Texas, Claude Philo and his wife Nancy, of Corsicana, Texas, and Carl Philo and his wife Jan, of Omaha, Nebraska; her sister-in-law, Joyce Mullenix, of Lawrence; her 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren with one on the way; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
 Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Dennis M. Feeney; her precious daughter, Sheryl Linn Edmonds; one brother, Denzel Philo; and one sister, Eleanor Slifer.
 Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2014 with the family present from 6 to 7 p.m. at Glidden-Ediger Chapel, McPherson.
 The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 7, 2014 at First Baptist Church, McPherson with interim pastor Terry Tareila officiating.
 The final resting place will be at the McPherson Cemetery, McPherson.
