  • Ag Minute: Stretching grazing on drought-stressed pastures

  • Now is the time to take action to minimize some drought problems.
    For starters, prepare a strategy for how to use any remaining hay. Perhaps feed hay a bit longer before turning cows out to pasture, allowing more grass growth before cattle get in there.  Also use leftover hay between grazings to allow for pasture recovery.
    Plant annual forages for pasture or hay. Oats planted now or summer annual grasses are excellent choices. Late May or early June is best.
