  • The Canton-Galva Babe Ruth baseball team ran into an opponent they couldn’t defeat Friday at Salina.
    Time.
    Canton-Galva, who had won the first game of the doubleheader 11-8, was trying to rally in the fourth down 6-2.
    They managed to plate one run, but the game was then called due to the 1 hour, 45 minute time limit on the second game. Canton-Galva would fall 6-3.
    Jacob Dailey took the loss, as he went three innings and gave up six runs, all earned, on nine hits. He walked one and struck out one. Jacob Struber worked the final one-third inning.
    Canton-Galva mustered only three hits in the second game, those coming from Connor Farnham, Dailey and Reed Weins. Dailey and  Tanner Klingensmith had the Canton-Galva RBIs.
    An explosive seventh inning proved to be the difference maker for Canton-Galva in game one, as the were down 8-4 heading into the top of the seventh.
    They plated seven runs and pulled out the 11-8, comeback rally.
    Nick Bray picked up the win, as he went the distance and gave up eight runs, five earned, on nine hits. He walked five but struck out six.
    Klingensmith had the hot bat, going 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored.
    Ryan Grant had two hits and an RBI. Dailey and Weins led the team in runs batted in with two.
