1. Paint a portrait
A Portrait Party will be offered for youth in fifth-ninth grades  10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
The McPherson Arts Alliance is sponsoring this class in the Mary Anderson Arts Center of the McPherson Opera House, 219 S. Main St. Instructor Shin-Hee Chin will provide students with an opportunity to explore art and craft techniques based on Van Gogh, Matisse, Paul Klee and Andy Warhol with the objective of celebrating each child’s individuality, community and environment through art.
Class is $25 (includes materials), and you can register in the VAAM Gallery at 223 S. Main St. or call 620-241-6131 for more information.

2. Eat at Annual Celebrity Dinner
The Circles of McPherson County Second Annual Celebrity Dinner will be from 6 to 9 p.m. tonight at Sportsview Pub ‘n’ Grub (formerly Time Out Sports Bar & Grill), 900 W. Kansas Ave.  
Community “celebrities” will take your order, bring your drinks and serve your meal.
Your tips will be donated to Circles of McPherson County.

3. Attend Harry Potter wizard training
The McPherson Public Library is holding Pottermania! Harry Potter Wizard Training as part of the teenage summer reading program From 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the library.
Join the world of Harry Potter with food, fun and games.

4. View showing of “Harry  Potter and the Sorceror’s Stone”
From 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Thursday, the McPherson Public Library will hold an MuVChat showing of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone as part of the teen’s summer reading program at the library.  
MuVChat allows you to text comments about the movie that shows up on the screen. This is open to teens in grades 6-12.

5. Shop the Night Away
Shop the Night Away, with the theme “It’s Your Move”will be held Friday from 5 to 10 p.m. in downtown McPherson.
There will be free activities, annual summer sidewalk sales and bargains for shoppers and diners. Play carnival games and register for prizes, including a $500 shopping spree.
