  • Nijee Cooper, Wylie, Texas, has signed a letter of intent to play men's soccer at Bethany College for the 2014-2015 academic year.
Cooper, an outside mid and center mid, comes to Bethany from Wylie East High School, where he was a multi-sport athlete. Cooper was a soccer captain, playing forward, outside mid, center mid and sweeper.
He also participated in cross country, track, volleyball, lacrosse, football as a kicker and band.
Cooper earned several soccer honors throughout his high school career; first team All-District, second team All-District, All-District Defensive MVP, District Champion, and Bi-District Champion. He was also an All-District cross country runner as well as an outstanding trumpet soloist.
"We are excited to have Nijee joining our men's soccer program and college," Swede coach Shane Taylor said. "His track record speaks for itself and we are delighted to have a student-athlete of his caliber contributing to Bethany's future."
Cooper is the son of Kimberly Cooper. He plans to major in engineering.
Taylor is entering his first season as head coach of the Swedes, having been hired in January.
Bethany open their season Aug. 28 at home against the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma.
