  • Lack of numbers may be the toughest opponent for the Canton-Galva cross country team this year.
Both the boys and girls only have one returning runner from last years team, junior Lane Wiens is the lone boy returner and junior Brittany Dieker will lead the depleted girls team.
“These two will be the backbone of the team this year, and I am counting on them for quality leadership, which I know they are both capable of,” head coach Lyle Silsby said.
Freshman Cash Toews may make a splash for the boys, as Silsby is very excited about his potential moving forward in the near future. Sophomore Kenzee Hiebert is a new addition to the Eagles roster, and Silsby too is excited about her potential.
“We will be competing for individual honors at the meets, unless we get some more coming out that I do not know about.” Silsby said.
The Eagle cross country team opens the 2014 season Sept. 4 with a meet at Tescott.
