Ethel Van Horn celebrated her 105th birthday Tuesday morning with a Hawaiian-themed party at The Cedars. About 75 people helped Van Horn celebrate the special occassion with music, root beer floats and Hawaiian costumes.
Van Horn has lived in Kansas all her life and moved to McPherson in the early 1990s. She has lived at The Cedars since 2006.
Shirley Bowers and Anita Sly, Van Horn’s great-nieces, joined the party and said they enjoy visiting her every month or so.
“We love visiting with her,” Bowers said. “She is such a delight and she can remember things [from] when we were children.”
