McPherson now has one of its own in the 1st Congressional District race.
Mark Cobb, a retired Air Force Lt. Col., made his run for Congress official Wednesday with an announcement during the McPherson Legion’s Veterans Day dinner.
Cobb retired from the U.S. Air Force in August, 1990, as the Deputy Chief of the Long Range Planning Division at the Pentagon.
He is a Vietnam veteran with more than 3,000 flying hours, has served as a delegate of the U.S. in Russia and is a a published scholar and his leadership spans from local organizations to international duties. He is also a licensed attorney that has worked at the local and state level and has served as a mediator and professor of law. It is that experience and proven leadership that, Cobb said, would serve him well in Washington.
Cobb intends to run a low-budget, grassroots campaign that will take him across the 69-county first district.
“I believe I can get the word out and that a campaign can be done on a much smaller budget,” Cobb said of his bid to fill the Congressional seat being vacated by Rep. Jerry Moran. “I will be working very hard to visit voters in all 69 counties.”
