Carriage Factory Art Gallery in Newton will host Dave Schimming in performance during "Third Thursday at the Gallery" from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 16, and Barbara Haynes as instructor for a mixed media collage workshop, 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 18.

Schimming is a solo acoustic guitarist, singer and songwriter who performs folk, blues, 60s music and originals. The Third Thursday event is free and open to all ages. Refreshments will be served.

Barbara Haynes will lead participants in creating "lovebirds" on a 12-inch by 15-inch canvas using a variety of techniques. The fee is $35 per person, and all supplies are included. Reservations for the class can be made by calling 316-284-2749.

Carriage Factory Art Gallery is housed in a building that was founded as a carriage factory in 1883 by J. J. Krehbiel, co-founder of Bethel College.

The building is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

The gallery features special exhibits every two months in the main gallery and on the mezzanine.
