Ferrell to celebrate 80th birthday

John Ferrell will turn 80 years old on March 4. John was married to Claudine May Ludwick on July 16, 1949, in Wichita. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in Sedona, Ariz. last summer with family.
Their children treated them to a hot air balloon ride. John and Claudine have two children. David Ferrell and wife, Linda, live in McPherson. Rebecca Nickel and husband, David, live in Indianapolis, Ind. John and Claudine have six grandchildren.
John was born March 4, 1930 in Dallas, Texas, to Rev. B.F. and Winnie Ferrell.  John worked at Central Christian College the majority of his adult life, serving as a teacher and administrator retiring in 1993 as Vice-President of Advancement.
John has served the community and his church in many various positions. He has served as the Building Committee chairman and Sunday School teacher at the Free Methodist Church. He served the McPherson community as general chairman of the McPherson Scottish Festival from its inception for 17 years, retiring in September 2009. He continues to serve Central Christian College as Archivist.
